European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation as a tool for the development and enhancement of regional international cooperation
The project entitled European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation as a tool for the development and enhancement of regional international cooperation is carried out by the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation TATRY (abbreviated EGTC Tatry) between June and November 2018. The project partner is the Municipality of Czarny Dunajec.
The European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation TATRY is a tool for joint implementation by Polish and Slovak partners (local governments, institutions) of the foreign policy at the local government and citizens’ level. It has been 5 years now since the of EGTC TATRY was established in 2018 as the first such entity on the borderlines of Poland with the involvement of an Euroregion and registered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These 5 years seem to be a good moment for summarising a certain stage, drawing conclusions, setting more goals and formulating plans.
The project envisages the pursuance of two main tasks:
- two-day international conference on the role of EGTC TATRY and other European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation with the participation of Polish entities in enhancing international cooperation together with a study visit
- promotion of cross-border cooperation as a major component of the state’s foreign policy – an information brochure will come out on cross-border cooperation, press articles will be published, promotional materials will be designed, a conference and a study visit will be announced as a local event within the European Week of Regions and Cities 2018 organised by the European Commission.
As a result of the pursuance of these tasks, cooperation will be promoted at the local government level between Polish and Slovak local governments and entities within EGTC TATRY, the perception of the position of Poland will be enhanced as an active participant of joint Polish-Slovak initiatives and regional projects, and the utilisation of the potential of EGTC will be emphasized as a tool for joint pursuance by partners on the Polish-Slovak border area of the priorities of the Polish foreign policy at the local government level.
Public task co-financed by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland in the call for projects
