The meeting of the Polish-Slovak Commission on European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation

On 30 May 2011 in the Centre for Polish-Slovak Cooperation in Nowy Targ, a meeting of the Polish-Slovak Commission on European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation was held. In line with the resolution adopted on 16 March 2011 at the XVII Congress of the Euroregion "Tatry" Cross-border Assosiation, the Board began its work on the convention and statutes - documents establishing the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation.

For this purpose it is necessary to take the following actions:

  • to perform the analysis of risks and benefits as well as the added value of the EGTC that is created in relation to the existing forms of cooperation.
  • identify the skills, experience and potential of the partners - prospective members of the EGTC – necessary for implementing the proposed cooperation.
  • examine the existing national legal frameworks and provisions which would be the most appropriate for governing the joint cooperation arrangements,
  • to compare the possible effects of the law on both the community and the national level.
  • check the procedures for the authorisation application procedure of the EGTC, in conformity with the national law
  • draft the convention and statutes, in consultation with all the interested partners, including the national authorities
  • initiate the authorisation application procedure once the approval of all interested partners have been obtained

The works of the Commission are carried out within the networking project "From the Tatry Euroregion to a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation", co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Republic of Poland – Slovak Republic Cross-border Co-operation Operational Programme 2007-2013.
