Next sitting of the Polish-Slovak Commission on European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation

On 8th November 2011, the next sitting of the Polish-Slovak Commission on European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation have been held in Spišská Nová Ves. The meeting, co-chaired by Mr ŠtefanBieľakiBogusławWaksmundzki, as an opportunity to recap on the results of the study visitto the European Week of Regions and Cities OPEN DAYS on 10-13 October 2011 inBrussels. The Commission discussed about the proposed amendments to the Regulation No 1082/2006 on EGTC, presented by the European Commission on 6 October 2011, together with a draft legislative package on the EU Cohesion Policy for 2014-2020.

The Commission has examined various options for the EGTC with regard to the objectives it may carry out. An unanimous support for the multi-purpose EGTC have been given. The issue of the draft Convention have been brought up. At the next meeting of the Commission in Nowy Targ, the works on the Convention and the Statutes are to be finalized, aimed at shaping the organizational structure of the EGTC, its seat and the statutory organs.
